Southern Africa is fortunate to have created and intrinsically developed the notion of Ubuntu, an ideal that as individuals, we exist because of one another, turning to humanity in order to build a better community. Boxer’s Ubuntu Projects is a division within Boxer that seeks to help others in need, in order to build up and uplift the world around us.
Throughout the many towns and cities, neighbourhoods and homesteads that we visit and trade in, we make great efforts to connect with people. Humanity and compassion are core values of Ubuntu and fundamental pillars upon which we seek to build a strong and lasting structure.
The Ubuntu Projects are a crucial way for all Boxer employees to be part of, rather than an addition to, a community.
We pride ourselves in being the ‘community champion’ to our customers, putting them at the top of our list of priorities, earning their respect through the ways in which we treat every person as an individual, not only instore, but wherever they may be. We offer our thanks for their support through giving back, it is a mandate we proudly fulfil to the best of our ability.
Annually the Ubuntu Projects support thousands of men, women, children, places of safety, schools, places of worship, NGO’s, NPO’s and families through various donations and initiatives, when they are needed the most. We deliver our mandate through the filters of respect and dedication, enhancing our already strong relationships in many ways, whether they shop with us daily, or are yet to experience the joy of walking through the doors of their friendly, nearby Boxer.
Being Africa’s Favourite Discounter, we are far more than a convenient Discount Supermarket that offers low prices and great service. We are the community champion, fuelled by Ubuntu with a sole purpose; Serve our communities, and we do so with pride.
Education
Education, whether at school level or through furthering skills within the workplace, is vital for the community in which Boxer serves. The various education initiatives successfully assist the youth and promote career defining paths through a series of opportunities including the Boxer Youth Leadership Programme through to the Boxer Training Department.

Shopping at Boxer stores not only benefit our customers through exciting promotions, combos, deals and competitions but, through our CSR programmes, the whole community benefit at various exit points i.e job creation, food parcels, school support, services and through partnerships with community organisations.
Maintaining a mutually beneficial relationship:
Our CSR Programmes are structured in such a way that they benefit local communities around the areas where we trade. It is our way of giving back to the communities that support our business.
Social and Economic Development responsibility:
Through our CSR strategy we ensure that as Boxer we not only give donations that are so critically needed, but we also support initiatives that result in income generating for our own people. The beneficiaries therefore participate in the development and growth of rural and township economy.
Small Business Assistance
Boxer has a dedicated mandate to support, uplift and create opportunities for Small and Medium Businesses across Southern Africa through empowerment of local individuals and organisations. BBBEE remains a top priority along with the efforts to educate and assist the creation of suppliers that can contribute to the Boxer brand.
Sports
Boxer recognises the important role sport plays in building communities. By providing sport kits, sponsoring teams and managing a team of runners through the Boxer Athletics Club, Boxer continues to empower communities through sport.
Going Green
Boxer’s efforts to create a cleaner future for generations can be seen through the many initiatives under the Going Green banner. From unique recycling projects to energy savings practices, Boxer is determined to make a difference.
