The Boxer Youth Leadership Programme

The Boxer Youth Leadership has become one of South Africa’s most sought after programmes to come out of the retail space. With more than two decades of history, the week long programme is an opportunity for school learners to learn vital lessons about leadership, education, knowledge and the overcoming of personal barriers.

The Abahlengi Bemvelo Project

Boxer’s ‘Abahlengi Bemvelo’ project, a Zulu term meaning ‘Rescuers of the Environment’, is a recycling initiative with two main goals: the creation of meaningful jobs through enterprise development and environmental sustainability. Boxer creates income for local community recyclers who sell the recyclable materials which Boxer collects from each store.

Boxer believes in supporting and giving back to the communities we serve, which is why our stores are strategically positioned within rural, semi-rural, urban, and semi-urban township areas. Our stores actively support local community initiatives through NPOs and other community-related structures. They also strive to respond swiftly to disasters and emergencies facing our communities. Numerous forms of donations are provided to those in need, ranging from food parcels to building equipment and more.

Taking Care Of Social Grantees & Our Communities

Further to that, we have fitted ATMs for easy and safe access to social grant beneficiaries. During the period of SASSA grant disbursement, our staff are always prepared to assist customers with their shopping needs, guiding them through our promotions, deals, and combos. Furthermore, safety and the securing of personnel are enhanced during this time, with extra security measures in place during pension pay-outs. This gives our customers reassurance that Boxer is a safe place to withdraw their grant. Some of our stores have extended hours of trade to accommodate our social grant and SASSA beneficiaries.

With each stride taken, the runner pushes the boundaries of human endurance. Body tensed as determined feet strike the ground. Filled with adrenalin and hope with only one thing on their mind, the finish line! For many, athletics is not just a way to pass time but a lifestyle choice. Noticing the immense raw talent within the disadvantaged areas surrounding Boxer stores, it was an easy decision for Boxer to want to nurture the potential of determined and dedicated athletes. From this decision, the idea of an Athletics Club emerged.

Police Assistance Store Visits to Police Stations

Individual stores often visit police stations based near stores with gifts and hampers to thank the officers for their continued efforts to protect and serve the communities in which Boxer trades. Often a special visit is made by Store Managers to thank the Station Commanders for their efforts.
